Longarm quilting is a process by which a longarm sewing machine is used to sew a quilt top, quilt batting and quilt backing together to create a finished quilt. The longarm sewing machine typically consists of an industrial sewing machine, a 10- to 14-foot table, and several rollers on which the different layers are placed.

The longarm quilting machine combines the creative, unique dimensions of hand quilting with the incredible agility of computerised machine quilting. Quilting with a longarm machine takes considerably less time than regular machine quilting or traditional hand quilting.
